FALLING UP

For a long time, I've been looking for a way to simulate a black hole similarly to how it was done for the film Interstellar. When Blender added the Refraction BSDF, I spent countless hours playing with and mastering the node in order to reach my goal. Through research, I was able to find that if you overlap several of these refraction shaders, you can get a similar effect to how light bends around a black hole due to the force of gravity. The ecretion disk is a nearly flat plane with an emission plugged into the volume output sat almost perpendicular to the camera, but the refraction shader bends the light from behind the singularity up and around it, making it visible from the other side. Very cool effect, very happy with the outcome.
